Shots fired in Irish town as 'gunman in balaclava' targets family home

GARDAÍ have launched an investigation after a number of shots were fired at a home in Bray, Co. Wicklow.

The incident occurred at a house on Dargle Road in the town shortly before midnight last night.

The family who live at the property were awoken at around 11.30pm to loud banging sounds outside.

When they looked out of their window they saw a man wearing a balaclava with a firearm.

The gunman fired up to six shots into their front door but fled the scene before Gardaí arrived.

The direction in which the attacker left the area is not known.

No one in the family was injured in the incident, although a number of children were left traumatised.

A Garda spokesman said: "Gardai in Bray are investigating an incident that occurred on Monday the 30th of April, 2018 at approx. 11.30pm at a house in Bray, Co. Wicklow.

"Loud bangs which appear to be shots were heard. Nobody was injured. Investigations are ongoing."
