A TEENAGE girl has died after an incident in Co. Galway this morning.
Emergency services were alerted shortly after 8 am as the young woman entered the water.
The girl was taken from the beach at Blackrock in Salthill, near the iconic diving board.
She was later pronounced as dead at University Hospital Galway.
According to Galway Bay FM, gardai are preparing a file for the local Coroner's Office and are treating the matter as a "sudden death".
