Teenage girl killed, two boys seriously injured in Cork crash

A TEENAGE girl has been killed following a late night traffic collision in County Cork last night.

Gardaí confirmed that a sixteen-year-old girl lost her life and two teenage boys received serious injuries in a single vehicle road traffic collision at approximately 11.45pm last night, 19 February.

The fatal crash ocurred when the teenagers' car collided with a wall on Harbour View Road, Knocknaheeney, Co Cork.

Emergency servuces and the Roads Policing Unit attended the accident but the sixteen-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and second passenger, both teenage boys, were taken to Cork University Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. Gardaí report that the male passenger is believed to be in a critical condition.

The body of the teenage girl has been taken to the mortuary at Cork Unversity Hospital whhere a post-mortem will be carried out.

The Harbour View Road remains partialy closed this morning in order for Garda Forensic Colision Investigators to inspect the scene. Gardaí have advised that local diversions remain in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding the collision, particularly any road users who may have dash cam footage, who were travelling Harbour View Road between 11pm and 12.30am on 19 - 20 February 2020, to contact Gurranabraher Garda Station on 021 494 6200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
