WATCH: Shocking scenes as brawl breaks out at Gaelic football youth match in Wicklow

WICKLOW GAA are to launch an investigation after a mass brawl broke at a youth match in the county on Saturday.

Footage shared widely on social media showed dozens of men and women fighting as tempers flared.

People can be seen throwing punches while others can be heard swearing as officials and spectators try to restore calm to the proceedings.

According to Independent.ie, the match was an Under-15 D football final between Carnew and Kilcoole at Wicklow GAA's Centre of Excellence at Ballinakill.

After the footage was shared online, Wicklow GAA released a statement condemning the "totally unacceptable" scenes.

"Wicklow GAA are aware of reports of totally unacceptable behaviour from a number of people at a game today [Saturday]," it read.

"Wicklow GAA strongly condemns all such behaviour, the CCC [Competitions Control Committee] will be investigating the incident fully and strong disciplinary action taken."
