Hurler has helmet impaled on hand in Cork club game

A HURLING player from Tipperary has had to have a team-mate’s helmet surgically removed after his hand became impaled on the faceguard.

Clonakenny club-man Conor Ryan was playing against Newcestown in the Munster club Intermediate semi-final in Cork when the bizarre sporting injury occurred.

Ryan spent the night in hospital awaiting emergency surgery and had to strap the helmet up to ease the pressure on the wound. We hope he makes a full recovery!
