LONDON manager Ciaran Deely has not yet put the finishing touches on his desired team-sheet for the visit of Mayo to Ruislip this weekend and admits there’s still time for players to work their way into his starting XV.
A handful of niggling injuries has forced Deely and his selectors to put a few places on hold, although he has ‘a good idea’ of how the Exiles will line out against the Connacht Champions on Sunday.
“Cathal Og Greene broke his finger against Louth, so he's a doubt,” Deely told The Irish Post. “Darragh Quinn went over on his ankle in training a number of weeks ago, so he's definitely out of the game and Lorcan Mulvey has a little hamstring issue that he picked up playing for his club, so he'll be a doubt as well.
“But we have a number of lads back fully now, which has been a boost. James Moran, Patrick O'Hara, Conor Campbell, so they're all back and fighting for places.
“There's still places up for grabs. In general, we have a good idea of our starting team. There's a couple of positions that we're still not sure about that there's a number of lads in the running for, but hopefully there'll be no more issues with injuries.
“But there won't be any late call ups to the squad. We'll be picking lads who are fit and ready for the game to try and operate at that intensity. Aside from that, we're more or less sorted at this stage.”
Meanwhile, Deely does not expect Mayo to show up and be caught off guard due to complacency ahead of a game they’re widely expected to win.
He said: “They know that they'll be wanting to set down a style of play for the rest of the Championship and they'll have players hoping to get into the team, with some Under-21 players coming back. I'd be shocked if Mayo came over and were complacent in any way.”
