Roy Keane pays tribute to ‘one of the best’ teammates - the late Paul McCarthy

ROY KEANE downloading Instagram was always going to provide us with some top tier entertainment.

So far we've got a predictably hilarious Valentine's Day message, a bonkers post on Saint Patrick's Day, and even a SELFIE from football's hardman.

But his most recent most post is much more sensitive than the rest of his uploads so far.

Earlier in the week, Keano shared a lovely picture of him and his former Ireland teammate Paul McCarthy.

McCarthy was a professional footballer who played for Brighton, Ebbsfleet and Wycombe, who sadly passed away unexpectedly in February 2017.

In the Instagram picture of the two playing for Ireland, Keane said:

"Me and Paul McCarthy who I played with at Rockmount, Cork and with Ireland. I’ve had some great teammates. You were one of the best."

When McCarthy died, Keane paid tribute to his talent saying: "In terms of schoolboy level, I think Paulie and O’Sullivan were the two best schoolboys I’ve seen for a long, long time. I went to Brighton with Paul but it didn’t work out with the trial."

High praise from one of Ireland's greatest ever talents.
