Ruislip redevelopment: Statement from GAA urges supporters to keep faith in plans

A STATEMENT has been released from the GAA at Central Level concerning the delay to the redevelopment of the Irish TV Grounds in Ruislip, London.

The London County Board confirmed earlier this month that construction on the proposed plans would not begin this summer as planned.

Work will instead begin in May 2016, and the GAA Central have urged London supporters to keep faith in the project. Read the statement in full below.

Cumann Lúthchleas Gael and Coiste Contae Londain are disappointed that the redevelopment of Ruislip cannot commence as originally planned in 2015.

We have worked very closely with London GAA over the past three years, an indication of the importance we place on a redeveloped Ruislip and the further development and growth of our association in London.

We will continue to work with Coiste Contae Londain to that end.

The proposed construction of Ruislip has a clearly defined construction period and a completion date in line with Connacht Championship games, which are held each year in Ruislip and which are of major importance to Coiste Contae Londain.

Presently, there are a number of outstanding issues and due to time constraints these could not be fully addressed to allow contracts to be put in place in the month of August.

We expect Coiste Contae Londain to complete all necessary due diligence prior to entering into contracts to allow this redevelopment to be completed within the constraints of planning, budget and timings and fully concur that these elements were not in place for a 2015 commencement due to the tight schedule Coiste Contae Londain has to work within.

We encourage London GAA supporters and members to continue to support existing fundraising initiatives while the outstanding issues are addressed with a view to the commencement of the project in 2016.
