Murphy Group donates to Aisling Return to Ireland

Leading Irish civil engineering and building contractor J. Murphy & Sons Limited has donated £8,000 to the Aisling Return to Ireland Project.

The sum was raised by company employees and others who received a Murphy at 60 book in exchange for a £30 donation. The company, founded by Kerryman John Murphy in 1951, matched each donation.

Alex McDonnell, coordinator at Aisling, said: “This donation will help us bring around 30 people back to their home – this is a massively life-changing experience for them. We’re delighted to be associated with this landmark anniversary and publication. It is a massive credit to people like John Murphy that Irish people have achieved their ambitions outside Ireland.”

John Stack, Managing Director of Murphy, said: “We are very proud of our Irish heritage and as we celebrated our 60th anniversary, we wanted to give something back to the Irish community. We are delighted to support the great work being done by the Aisling Return to Ireland Project.”

The Murphy at 60 book is a photographic celebration reflecting the achievements of John Murphy, the founder of J. Murphy & Sons, and all present and past employees. It is available from the company and also on the Apple iBookstore.
