Irish company acquires Welsh medical supplier

IRISH conglomerate DCC Healthcare has bought a Welsh medical and pharmaceutical products supplier for £45million.

Williams Medical Holdings, based in Rhymney in South Wales, is the market leader in the sector in Britain. The company employs 165 people.

DCC Chief Executive Tommy Breen said in a statement. "The acquisition of Williams Medical represents an excellent strategic fit and another material step forward for DCC Healthcare following the acquisitions of Kent Pharma, Leonhard Lang UK and UPL over the last 15 months."

DCC plc is an investments group and holding company based in Dublin.
