Irish actor lands role in BBC World War One drama The Passing Bells

RISING Irish actor Paddy Gibson has been cast as one of the lead roles in a new BBC One First World War drama series The Passing Bells.

The What Richard Did star will feature alongside Jack Lowden in the five-part series, which follows the story of two ordinary young men who enlist in a war they expect will be over within months.

Written by Tony Jordan (Hustle, Life On Mars), the drama chronologically documents the years of the war between 1914-1918, which sees the pair "grow up, lose friends and find love amid the horrors of the war".

The Passing Bells will be filmed in Poland and will also be shown on the country's national broadcaster TVP.

Gibson has also acted in Neverland and The Tudors, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
