Saoirse Ronan's dad lands role in Love/Hate

Love/Hate’s forthcoming series is so highly anticipated that it's no surprise that little has been revealed about the new characters and plotlines.

However, one new addition to the gangland drama that has been spotted filming in Dublin recently is Paul Ronan, the father of Hollywood actress Saoirse Ronan.

The 49-year-old veteran actor was seen shooting a scene with Mark Dunne, who plays Ado, in the Phoenix Park, after landing himself a role as a new character in the upcoming fifth series.

The Irish Post contacted Paul’s agent in an attempt to unveil the details of his new part in the award-winning RTE series, however, due to the secretive nature of the explosive new storylines, lips are being kept tightly sealed.

Carlow native Paul is widely known for co-starring with Brad Pitt in the IRA movie The Devil’s Own.

He is also recognised for influencing daughter Saoirse’s passion for acting; they both starred in the film How I Live Now last year, in which Saoirse’s character shot her father with a gun.

Series five of Love/Hate is expected to have 12 episodes, and whilst filming of the new series is underway in north and west of Dublin, the show’s director David Caffrey was reluctant to confirm rumours that Spain will be one of the surprise locations.
