Shane Filan to support Garth Brooks at Croke Park this summer

SHANE Filan has been confirmed as a support act to Garth Brooks' five night country roadshow at Croke Park next month.

The former Westlife star will take to the stage on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July at the same stadium where the boyband performed their farewell gig two years ago.

The Sligo man will play alongside rising country star Nathan Carter for the gig.

Filan’s forthcoming performances are the most recent booking for the now solo artist, after recently returning from a sold out Asian tour.

The Croker gig "will be the icing on the cake for an incredible 12 months for Shane," reported the Daily Mail.

A source added: "Garth Brooks approves each support slot so he is practically endorsing them. Plus they get to play to 82,000 country music fans which opens up a whole new market for them."

Over 400,000 tickets have been sold for Brooks' gigs at Croke Park, with 100,000 country music fans expected to arrive in Ireland for the concerts.
