Simone Rocha honoured at British Fashion Awards

IRISH designer Simone Rocha was honoured at the British Fashion Awards in London on Monday night.

London-based Rocha received the New Establishment Award, which recognised a "womenswear or menswear designer that is taking the global industry by storm."

She had fought off competition within the category from Emilia Wickstead and Peter Pilotto.

Last month she was named Young Designer of the Year by iconic fashion magazine 'Harper's Bazaar'.

Derry native JW Anderson was also successful on the night and picked up the award for Menswear Designer of the Year, for being a "designer of ready-to-wear who has been instrumental in enhancing men's fashion in the past year."

He was nominated alongside Erdem, Christopher Kane, Christopher Bailey for Burberry, Paul Smith and Tom Ford, but lost out to Erdem in the womenswear category.

Other winners on the night included Cara Delevingne (Model of the Year), Victoria Beckham (Brand), Anna Wintour (Outstanding Achievement Award), Emma Watson (British Style Award) and Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton (International Designer).
