The Valentine's edition of the Late Late Show went down a storm

LAST night was the annual Valentine's episode of the Late Late and it didn't disappoint.

Friday night's festivities even included a man proposing to his fiancée live on national TV.

James Hennessy and his girlfriend of 5 years, Siobhán Hiney appeared on a Mr & Mrs-style segment during the romance-themed show - but there was a twist to come.

James revealed the pair had met in the less romantic surrounds of the Applegreen petrol station forecourt in Portlaoise.

No doubt the pressure was on the 28-year-old social worker to make the proposal extra romantic and luckily for James, a stunned and tearful Siobhán said yes – no doubt hoping for a honeymoon far from the forecourt of Applegreen's Portlaoise.

The audience was over the moon at Siobhán's answer to the proposal and from then on, their momentum continued.

The audience was comprised of 200 singletons specially selected by the Late Late Show in a bid to find them love, but it seems their rowdy ways left the viewers at home splitting sides laughing.
