21-year-old man arrested after woman's body discovered in Belfast

A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested following the discovery of a woman's body in a house in Belfast.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have confirmed they have arrested one man in connection with the discovery, which occurred at approximately 1.45am this morning, April 21.

He was taken to Musgrave Police Station where he is being questioned in connection with the incident.

Police say they were called to a a flat in Hayworth Avenue, south Belfast, Northern Ireland in the early hours of this morning, where they discovered the body of a 39-year-old woman.

Detective Darren McCarthy, the detective leading the investigation, said the woman's remains will undergo a post mortem in order to determine the cause of death.

Detective McCarthy went on to request that anyone who may have information, or who may have witnessed something in relation to the incident, to come forward.

He said: "I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of Haywood Avenue late last night or early this morning and who seen or heard anything to contact detectives from the Major Investigation Team at Ladas Drive Police Station on 101 quoting reference 106 22/04/20."
