A BBC reporter had an unfortunate slip of the tongue when covering the Easter Rising centenary

A BBC reporter had an embarrassing slip of the tongue while reporting on Easter Rising commemorations in Dublin.

Nuala McGovern, an Irish BBC journalist based in London, made the faux pas when reporting live from the Irish capital on day two of the massive commemorations for the centenary of the Easter Rising.

She tried to refer to the Rising as a "piece of history" - but struggled with the word "piece".

The unfortunate mishap has meant that Ms McGovern has become something of a viral hit, with thousands watching it unfold online.
