Belfast boy’s home survivor reveals abuse by “powerful people” in London

A SURVIVOR of the Kincora Boys Home in Belfast has revealed that his abuse spread to locations in London linked to an alleged VIP paedophile ring.

In an interview with Channel 4 News, which is due to be broadcast this evening, Richard Kerr claims he was molested by “very important people” in two London locations in his youth.

Mr Kerr was abused at the notorious Kincora Boys' home in Belfast in the 1970s but claims he and two other boys were also hand-picked to be taken to London in 1977, where they were sexually assaulted by men at two different locations.

Last month Channel 4 News brought him back to London, with a counsellor, from his home in the United States, to revisit his past.

In an interview with reporter Cordelia Lynch he reveals he was abused at London's Elm Guest House and Dolphin Square at the hands of “powerful people” while a teenager in 1977.

Both of the boys who were brought to London with him have since taken their own lives, he claims.

When asked if he believes there were politicians among his abusers, Mr Kerr states: “Some, some I do.”

While revisiting the Dolphin Square site - which is among locations under the spotlight in the Government’s investigation into an alleged historic VIP paedophile ring – last month, he recalled an experience he had there in his teens.

“I could have been 16, 15, 17, I remember going in with this guy. He told me to sit down and relax and explained about his glasses. He had Waterford Crystal and he wanted me to have a brandy and we had a small one. And then we had a sexual encounter in here."

He adds: “I am still in fear.”

Richard Kerr gives his harrowing account of the abuse he suffered on Channel 4 News at 7pm this evening (Tuesday, April 7).
