‘Personal tragedy’ as body of man in his 40s recovered from River Liffey in Dublin

THE body of an adult male has been recovered from the River Liffey in Dublin city centre.

The recovery operation occurred on Wednesday morning near to the Samuel Beckett Bridge.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 7am after the body was discovered near a small boat dock on the quays, in the vicinity of the Convention Centre building.

Gardaí confirmed that members of An Garda Siochana attended the scene along with members of Dublin Fire Brigade and ambulance services.

The ambulance and two fire crews left the scene at 7:20am.

Gardaí said the death is being treated as a ‘personal tragedy’ and not as suspicious.

They added that the man is yet to be identified.

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed that their emergency crews had been called to the scene of a deceased body in the River Liffey this morning.
