Boris Johnson labels climate activists like Greta Thunberg 'politcally correct bunny-huggers'

BRITISH Prime Minister Boris Johnson appears to have taken a swipe at climate activists, branding the likes of Greta Thunberg "bunny-huggers".

He was speaking  during President Joe Biden's virtual climate summit, which has brought together dozens of world leaders for a two-day event.

The Conservative Party leader, who is pushing for climate action in the UK, chose a rather strange, yet entirely unsurprising way to express his desire to help.

Mr Johnson said it was "vital for all of us to show that this is not all about some expensive politically correct green act of 'bunny-hugging’' or however you want to put it.

"Nothing wrong with bunny-hugging but you know what I’m driving at."

Classic BoJo.

Thunberg, who has a history of mocking world leaders, saw the funny side of Mr Johnson's comments, and proceeded to dub herself a 'bunny-hugger' on her Twitter account.

Famously, the Swedish climate activist turned the tables on Donald Trump in 2019, after the president accused her of having anger management issues.

She quoted him in her Twitter bio: "A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend."

Trump also said of Greta: "She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!"

But the teenager hit back on the day of Joe Biden's inauguration, tweeting: "He seems like a very happy old man looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!"
