Brave garda dog successfully hunts down Dublin armed robbery suspects

A BRAVE garda dog has been hailed as a hero after successfully hunting down a pair of hapless armed robbery suspects in north Dublin.

Bear, a four-year-old Belgian Malinois Cross and general purpose garda dog, earned himself a few extra dog biscuits back at the station after sniffing out two suspects while responding to an armed robbery at a service station in Donabate.

To top it all off, he also proved officers were barking up the right tree by uncovering vital evidence related to the crime while searching the scene.

The police pooch’s impressive efforts were later celebrated on social media, with An Garda Síochána taking to Facebook to congratulate their furry friend on his crime fighting efforts.

They also posted a picture of Bear in his police gear - it was all rather fetching.

They wrote: “Garda Dog Bear, aged 4, is a Belgian Malinois Cross and works as a general purpose garda dog.

“He recently responded to an armed robbery at a service station in Donabate with his handlers from the garda dog unit.

“Bear conducted a search of the area and successfully recovered two suspected offenders and vital evidence related to the crime.

“Bear was assisted by Coolock District Gardaí, the Garda Air Support Unit and the Armed Support Unit.

“Well done to Garda Dog Bear, the Garda Handlers and all units involved in the operation.”

It's all in a day's work for this police hound.

Somebody better give that dog a bone.
