Cork stabbing victim, 24, has been named

A murder investigation has been launched following the stabbing of a 24-year-old man.

The victim, Conor Quinn died after being stabbed on Bridge Street in the town of Mallow, Co Cork at 8.30pm on July 12.

According to Gardaí in the area, an altercation broke out between two men which resulted in the victim being stabbed.

The young man suspected of the fatal stabbing is known to Gardaí and searches were taking place last night as officers sought to locate him to speak to him about the attack.

Gardaí are now conducting a murder investigation following the completion of the post-mortem this afternoon.

The results have been passed to the investigation team and are not being released for operational reasons.

Gardai wish to renew their appeal for witnesses and in particular, anyone who travelled in and around the Mallow Town area between 7.30pm and 9.30pm last night.
