DOGS truly are man's best friend.

One dog that will be getting more than a reward for his loyalty is Max.

A blue heeler dog by the name of Max stayed with his owner Aurora when she went missing for 15 hours.

Young Aurora was reported missing on Friday at 3 pm as she went wandering around Queensland's Southern Downs.

A search was launched for the toddler by police, with neighbours and friends to the family aiding the force.

At 8am on Saturday, Max found the search party and miraculously led them to where Aurora was, hidden in bushland area.

Max is currently 17 years old, deaf and going blind as he continues to age.

He has been announced as an honorary police dog by the local force, Queensland Police Service.
