Disgruntled man with Irish accent smashed parking machines with hammer in rage

A man with an Irish accent is wanted by police in Hertfordshire after smashing two car-parking machines with a hammer in front of terrified children at a sports centre in Hemel Hempstead.

The man caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage during the incident at 6.20pm on Saturday, November 14.

He smashed the machines at Sport Space on Park Road in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, in front of members of the public.

A local paper reports that the man became incensed after receiving a parking ticket.

A police spokeswoman described the man as white, between 5ft 9 and 5ft 11 inches tall, of medium to stocky build with very short, light coloured hair.

He was wearing a dark blue Adidas jacket with white stripes on the sleeves, a white or grey t-shirt underneath, dark blue shorts and white trainers.

Police have asked witnesses who can assist the investigation to contact Herts Police on 101.
