Golfers swing into action to help Rehab charity

A CHEQUE for £31,000 was handed over to the charity Rehab UK recently, the proceeds from a golf day organised by a group of mainly Irish businessmen.

The Rehab UK Golf Classic has taken place annually at Moor Park golf club in Rickmansworth, Herts since 1993 and has raised over £700,000 for the charity, with £31,000 being the sum raised at the 2014 golf day.

The event was set up by Mayo man Pat Ruddy to support the work of Rehab, which provides assessment, training and development programmes that enable and empower people with disabilities to break into the workforce or to sustain employment, and to become more socially and economically independent.

Pat is still actively involved today, as Chairman of the Rehab UK Golf Classic, and he and his hard working committee and team of volunteers are finalising plans for this year's event, which will take place on Friday 1st May. The golf day continues to have strong support from Irish businesses, many of who will be hitting the fairways again this year.
