Investigation launched after man, 30, murdered in Northern Ireland

A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of a man in north Belfast last night.

Detectives from PSNI's Serious Crime Branch are leading the investigation in which a 21-year-old man has already been arrested.

Police received a report from the Ambulance Service just after 9pm last night (June 28) that they were attending to a seriously injured male who they had located in the area of Parkmount Street/Seaview Close.

The man, aged 30, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital where he unfortunately died from his injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Montgomery said: “A 21 year old male has been arrested on suspicion of murder and have been taken to Musgrave Police Station for questioning.

“I am appealing for anyone it was the area of Parkmount Street or Seaview Close between 8pm and 9.30pm last night and who witnessed anything to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1487 of 28/06/18.

"Alternatively information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
