GARDAÍ are investigating after a man was left in a serious condition following a late-night assault in Co. Waterford.
The 27-year-old sustained several head injuries during the attack, which occurred at around 3am today at the junction of John Street and The Manor.
The man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford before being transferred to Cork University Hospital.
His condition has been described as serious.
