Repeat of Walk-In Vaccine Centres across Ireland this weekend

Following the success of the Walk-in Vaccine Clinics last week, the HSE will repeat it in 38 locations this weekend.

Last weekend, across the Public Holiday weekend in Ireland, walk-in vaccine centres saw a huge uptake by Irish teenagers.

In excess of 30,000 people across the country availed of the opportunity to receive the jab.

And the youth of Ireland were praised by Damien McCallion, the HSE’s National Lead on Vaccination Programme “They certainly were very popular, there was a good uptake,” and continued that its goal “was to try and see whether we could attract people as well who perhaps previously hadn’t engaged in the programme and weren’t registered”.

It is believed that more than 50% of those vaccinated last week, had not previously registered.

Ireland has now fully vaccinated three-quarters of all adults

This weekend, there will be 38 clinics across Ireland operating on Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th August – in an effort to push towards getting all Irish adults and Over 16 year-olds vaccinated by the end of August.

Those attending will receive the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine first dose. These walk-in clinics will not administer the 2nd dose. Each person who receives a walk-in jab – will receive a text for their second dose, when it is due, at a location near them.

People need to bring official identification with a photo ID – such as a passport, drivers licence, garda age card, student/school ID. It needs to show your Date of Birth.
People who have not registered already, must also bring their PPS number, Eircode, Mobile number (for the 2nd appt dose) and an email address.

"Vaccination offers a real way out of this pandemic. The positive news is that take-up in Ireland is extremely high, which shows people understand the benefits for themselves and for their communities of getting vaccinated," Dr Holohan said.

If you are aged 16 or older, you can register online to get an appointment at a COVID-19 vaccination centre.
