Search for missing Offaly man stood down as body recovered from woods

AN OFFALY man who went missing over a week ago has tragically been located deceased.

Eric Frawley, 45, vanished from his home in Tullamore, County Offaly on 21 June 2020, sparking a desperate search by his friends and family.

Heading the search was Mr Frawley's partner, Sarah,who appealed for people to help via Facebook and the local radio, describing their situation as "beyond a nightmare".

An Garda Síochána became involved in the search, releasing a public appeal for information and sharing images and CCTV photographs of Mr Frawley, admitting in the appeal that they were "concerned for his welfare".

One of the images released showed Mr Frawley, who is 6' with brown hair and eyes, walking down the street of Tullamore wearing a khaki jacket, dark blue jeans and Nike runners.

Also released was an image of Mr Frawley's blue mountain bike, on which he was believed to be travelling on.

Tragically, the eight-day search came to an end yesterday after a body was found and recovered from nearby woods.

According to Offaly Express, remains believed to be that of Mr Frawley were found in the Chareville woods during a search by officers, defence forces and civil defence, as well as friends, loved ones and the local community.

Gardaí have thanked the public for their assistance and confirmed the search for the Offaly man has been stood down.
