Stunning drone footage of Dublin city centre shows eerily quiet and empty streets

DRAMATIC footage has emerged of Dublin city centre from above admits coronavirus lockdown measures.

In place of the usual thousands of shoppers, businessmen and women, and tourists scurrying around the capital, there's silence, simply and emptiness - not a single car or pedestrian in sight.

The breathtaking footage was captured by drone experts Aerial.

It's Dublin as you've never seen it before, and it's admittedly, in a way, quite beautiful.

As one of their drones navigates over the city, all that can be seen - save for the deathly still buildings and houses - is a handful of seagulls, surveying the empty landscape, probably desperate for a discarded chip or two.

For many people who have been unable to leave their homes during lockdown, this is one of the first visual glimpses of the impact of the virus.

One of the busiest cities in Europe, sleeping.

And it's likely to remain sleeping with lockdown measures expected to this week be extended far beyond the current deadline of Easter Sunday.
