Teenager reportedly attacked with slash hook by masked men while filling mother’s car at petrol station

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy is recovering in hospital after allegedly being attacked by three masked men wielding a slash hook this evening.

According to the Irish Independent, the incident happened at around 5pm on the Kilrush Road in Ennis, Co. Clare.

The boy and his mother had stopped at a filling station and the teen was filling up the car when the attack happened.

The car’s back and front windows were damaged in the attack, while the boy was struck at least once with what is believed to be a slash hook.

The mother was unhurt.

Thee boy was taken to University Hospital Limerick with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigating officers are understood to be following a definite line of inquiry.

Gardaí have asked anyone who was in the area of Ashline/Kilrush Road around the time of the incident to contact them at Ennis station on 065 6848100.
