THREE PEOPLE have died in a late night road collision in Dundalk, Co Louth.
Two vehicles collided at around 2:15am this morning on the N1 road at Carrickcarnan.
One man, said to be in his early 20s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Dundalk.
His condition has not been updated.
Three others were reported dead at the scene of the crash.
The road at Carrickcarnan is currently closed while gardai and forensic teams continue to examine the scene of the collision.
Local diversions are already in place.
A garda spokesperson said: "A two vehicle collision occurred at approximately 2.15am and one man (early 20s) has been removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Dundalk.
"The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.
"Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are en route to the scene and will conduct their investigations.
"Investigations ongoing."
