Two arrested on suspicion of murder after man's body found on residential street

TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a man's body on a Belfast street.

The man was found dead in Orient Gardens off the Cliftonville Road in north Belfast last night.

The arrested men are aged 26 and 28. The victim's identity is yet to be released.

Local SDLP MLA Nichola Mallon tweeted that there was "shock and sadness across north Belfast at the death of a man and launch of a murder investigation by the PSNI".

She added: "Our thoughts are with his family. If anyone saw anything in and around Orient Gardens, no matter how small, please contact the police."

Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area between 7pm and 10pm yesterday or who has any information about the death to contact detectives on the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
