‘Way off the mark’ - Prince William rejects Harry's claim he 'trapped' in Royal family

PRINCE HARRY’S claim that his brother, Prince William, is “trapped” inside the British monarchy has been rejected as “way off the mark” by a source close to royal family.

The Duke of Sussex stirred up controversy after claiming both his brother and father, Prince Charles, were prisoners in the gilded cage of royal life.

However, a Buckingham Palace source said to be close to both William and Harry has rejected the claims made in the latter’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The source told the Sunday Times, William has “accepted” his role and “the path set for him.”

“He is very much his grandmother's grandson in that respect of duty and service,” the source added.

The comments stand in stark contrast to those made by Harry during the explosive Oprah interview.

The Duke of Sussex told the veteran US chat show host: “I myself was trapped. I didn’t see a way out. I was trapped but I didn’t know I was trapped.”

Asked to clarify his comments, Harry replied: “Trapped within the system, like the rest of my family are.

“My father and my brother, they are trapped. They don’t get to leave.”

Prince William is second in line to the throne after Prince Charles.

According to the Sunday Times report, the Duke of Cambridge is said to have been furious with Harry and Meghan for failing to heed the Queen’s request that they opt against using the word “royal” in any future business ventures.

Responding to the Queens ban, in March 2019 the couple posted a message on their SussexRoyal website saying “there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy... over the use of the word "Royal" overseas”.

An insider said Prince William found the whole fiasco “disrespectful” to the Queen and admonished the couple for “blindsiding” the monarch with the statement posted online.

“That was it for William, he felt they'd blindsided the Queen in such an insulting and disrespectful way,” the source said.
