A YOUNG Irishman died in Ibiza only hours after arriving on the Mediterranean Island.
Clondalkin native Paul Guidon died on Saturday night whilst holidaying with three of his close friends, but the cause of death is not yet known.
According to his father, Paul snr, the 22-year-old may have suffered a heart attack. The 50-year-old said: "We don't know what happened officially – we have been told a couple of stories.
"The main story that we are hearing is that he was sitting around the pool with a couple of his friends, just having a chat.
"We are told that he got into the pool and that he had a heart attack. He had no history of heart problems and he wasn't drunk."
A post-mortem examination is expected to take place either today or early tomorrow.
Mr Guidon had travelled with his friends to Ibiza – known for its reputation as a party island – after booking a last-minute deal, but the trip has left his family “absolutely devastated” according to his father.
He claims the young man, who attended Moyle Park College in Clondalkin and worked at Uniphar in Citywest, had been the “apple of his mother’s eye” and a "great role model" to his younger sister and brother.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to Mr Guidon’s parents, who will travel to Ibiza to bring home their son’s body.
Once news emerged of Mr Guidon’s tragic death, friends started posting tributes on various social networking sites.
A close friend had written, "This time yesterday I lost my closest friend and basically part of my family, rest in peace brother. We're all broken hearted, god only takes the good, miss him terribly."
