A deflected Shaun Maloney goal denied the Republic of Ireland a much needed European Championships 2016 qualifiers Group D victory at the Aviva Stadium.
Jon Walters' controversial 38th minute goal gave the home side a deserved lead, but Scotland levelled within seconds of the restart.
Maloney's left footed shot took a deflection off John O'Shea as the visitors' restored parity putting Ireland under severe pressure to respond.
In the closing stages Ireland poured forward in search of a winner, but Scotland defended in resolute fashion to earn a share of the spoils.
