Cork’s Rena Buckley and Briege Corkery in line for new GAA record

HISTORY could be made today when Cork play Dublin in the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Senior Football Final.

If Cork win their match, it will make dual stars Briege Corkery and Rena Buckley the most medalled players in the history of GAA.

Cork’s victory against Galway in the All-Ireland Senior Camogie final meant Corkery and Buckley matched Kathleen Mills’ record of 15 medals achieved.

If the Rebels are victorious on Sunday, the two players will have won a record-breaking 16 medals each, 10 in football and six in Camogie.

Both Corkery and Buckley have played together since they were teenagers and work as a dairy farmer and physiotherapist respectively.

Cork will face fierce competition from Dublin, however, who will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last year’s defeat against their rivals.
