Ireland squad announced for upcoming World Cup qualifiers

THERE HAS been quite a bit of speculation over who was going to make the Ireland squad for our upcoming World Cup qualifying games, and finally we have confirmation.

Caoimhín Kelleher and Aaron Connolly were both doubts for the squad, but have been named and should be fit to play in the crucial games.

Meanwhile, Manchester City goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu earned his first call up to the senior side, and may start in goal if Kelleher is deemed unfit.

It is an extremely youthful outfit, with all four goalkeepers under the age of 25.

The exciting youngster Troy Parrott is named in the squad, and may in line to start up top after scoring his first goal in professional football last weekend.

Veteran James McClean is also in the squad, having just recovered from injury.

The squad in full can be seen here:

These players will take on Serbia on 24 March, and then Luxembourg three days later, followed by a friendly against Qatar.
