Shane Lowry gets off to strong start at Players Championship

SHANE LOWRY has gotten off to a seriously strong start at the Players Championship, with one gorgeous shot standing out above the rest.

The Offaly man made six birdies in a four-under-par round that left him tied for third, just three shots behind clubhouse leader Sergio Garcia on a day when the average score was 73.8.

On a day where Rory McIlroy seriously struggled, it was good to see Lowry doing well and representing Ireland at such a high level.

Lowry shared one of his most impressive shots of the day on his Twitter page on Thursday:

Gorgeous stuff from the Clara man.

Interestingly, Lowry switched up his putting stance for this day of golf, moving from left hand low to right hand low. And not to say we know any better than him and his team, but it seems to be working...

Lowry said: "Things have not gone great over the last few weeks, so it's nice to go out there and shoot a decent score."

In other news from the world of golf, Rory McIlroy said that Tiger Woods is still criticising his game, even from his hospital bed.
