Tiger Woods has recieved a mixed response from the internet for his Tampon prank during the Genesis Invitational this week

LEGENDARY GOLFER TIGER WOODS HAS come under fire for a prank he pulled at the Genesis Invitational this week.

The American participating in his first tournament since July endured the good and bad of the internet for handing fellow pro Justin Thomas a tampon after outdriving him on Thursday.

Thomas reacted well to the gift from Woods and could be seen throwing the item to the floor, while he and Woods laughed together.

However. Woods who recorded an opening round of 69 at the event received mixed reactions for his gift to Thomas.

One Twitter user said, " I need a LIV vs PGA tour Ryder cup type event just so Tiger can give Phil a tampon after out driving him"

As a woman, can I just say that I'm offended! I'm offended by the amount of wet flannels who can't see banter when it's staring them in the face. If you don't like the post love, scroll on by. A joke between two mates isn't always about disrespecting women!! Fml!!," said another.

While other's were not so impressed by Tiger's antics, "This is just not that funny. It’s just a boomer joke and says a lot about Tiger. I bet his daughter loves being the butt of his jokes for the way she was born. What a guy," said one angry Twitter user.

While Irish LPGA star Leona Maguire liked a tweet which read: “One step forward two steps back for advancing conversation around menstruation for #sportswomen everywhere. #greatstuff.”

On the green, Woods closed with three straight birdies to finish his first round in a tie for 27th, outscoring world no.1 Scottie Scheffler, among others on the opening day

Today, Thomas, Woods, and Rory Mcllroy teed off at 3:24pm UK time.

Full coverage of the day will be shown later on from 7pm on Sky Sports.
