Ireland’s best beach has been revealed

THE SUN is out and countless thousands across Ireland that can only mean one thing: it’s time to head to the beach.

And when it comes to seeking out a perfect sandy patch of land to relax, play or rest your weary head, the Emerald Isle is spoilt for choice.

Even so, it can pay to be in the know when it comes to finding out where Ireland’s best beaches can be found.

That’s where TripAdvisor comes in.

The go-to source for all things travel related, the website has just published its rundown of the best beaches across Ireland.

Using reviews collected from TripAdvisor users over the past 12 months, the new countdown offers up the 10 best beaches on offer across the country.

There’s a clear winner too with Inchydoney Beach in Clonakilty, Co Cork coming out on top in the user-voted list.

Banna Strand and Inch Beach, both in Co Kerry, complete the top three while a further four Kerry beaches can be found in the top 10 along with entries from Sligo, Clare and Dublin.

1. Inchdoney Beach, Clonakilty

“These awards recognise the best beaches in Ireland and worldwide, according to the travellers that have visited and given them the highest levels of praise,” Hayley Coleman, a TripAdvisor spokesperson, said.

“The residents of Clonakilty should be very proud to see Inchdoney Beach climbing up from second place last year to be named Ireland’s very best rated beach this year.”
