'We'll fight for Luke to ensure no family goes through what we went through'
The family of Luke Fitzpatrick have vowed to fight knife and gang crime in his name after the young man’s killers were sentenced to a total of 56 years behind bars.
Luke’s mother Constance Fitzpatrick spoke to The Irish Post this week after the sentencing of three gang members found guilty of stabbing the 25-year-old to death.
No back-door bailout for Ireland, says Government
The Irish Government has hit back at claims that British taxpayers funded a £10billion “back-door” bailout for Ireland.
According to a report by The Times on Monday, £10billion of public money has been pumped into Ulster Bank, a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Scotland that does the majority of its business in the Republic of Ireland.
Speaking to The Irish Post, the Irish Government has fiercely resisted any suggestion that this amounted to a bailout of Ireland by British taxpayers.
Man wanted for questioning over vile train rant
Police have named the man they suspect of unleashing a vile racist rant at a fellow passenger on a train in Brighton.
The investigation relates to a tirade abuse launched by a man, who speaks with a strong Irish accent and refers to himself as an Irish man, at a black passenger. The incident was captured on camera and uploaded to YouTube, where the abuser can be seen calling his victim a “monkey”, “mongrel” and “gorilla” before threatening to “take (his) eyes out”.
