Law firm Eversheds Sutherland integrates Ireland practice into its international business

GLOBAL law firm Eversheds Sutherland has announced its Ireland practice will soon be integrated into its international business.

The practice in Ireland, which had been a member of the firm's Europe business for more than 20 years, will see an initial 26 partners and 170 colleagues join the International firm as a financially-integrated practice with offices in Dublin and Belfast.

The firm said the move reinforces its commitment to Ireland as a key jurisdiction, ensuring the delivery of seamless cross-border legal services to clients around the world.

'Ambitious, like-minded team'

"I am delighted to welcome our new partners and the wider team in Ireland to Eversheds Sutherland International," said Keith Froud, Global Co-CEO and International Chief Executive.

"With a full-service offering across the offices in Dublin and Belfast, we are one of the only leading global law firms with such capabilities in this important market.

"Opportunities for our clients in Ireland are considerable and today's announcement is a significant step in our long-term plans for the future.

"We wanted an ambitious, likeminded team of the highest quality and that is exactly what we have achieved.

"I am confident that we will now be able to move our strategic goals for our Irish business forward at pace."

'Best-in-class service'

Many of the company's major clients, particularly those based in the US, have their European headquarters in Ireland.

The firm already advises eight of the largest 15 listed companies with headquarters in Ireland.

Financial Services clients that have operations and investments in Ireland can take advantage of access to EU markets, with Ireland the only English-speaking, common law jurisdiction in the EU.

Pamela O'Neill, Managing Partner, Dublin, will lead the firm's operations in Ireland, while Gareth Planck, Senior Office Partner, heads the Belfast office in Northern Ireland.

"We are proud to join the International firm and to deepen our commitment to clients in Ireland and beyond," said Ms O'Neill.

"Our team is energised by the opportunity to collaborate closely with colleagues around the world, delivering best-in-class service across all core practice areas and sectors to both domestic and international clients."

Meanwhile, Mr Planck added: "Our longstanding presence in Northern Ireland and now as part of the International firm's impressive platform, ensures that our clients benefit from both local insight and international reach."
