COLIN Farrell’s new movie The Lobster has been awarded the Jury Prize at the 68th Cannes Film Festival.
The film, shot in Kerry last year, premiered at Cannes on May 15 and was announced the winner at the festival’s closing ceremony on Sunday evening (May 24).
Written and directed by by Yorgos Lanthimos, the movie also stars Rachel Weisz, Léa Seydoux, Jessica Barden, Ben Whishaw, John C Reilly and Ariane Labed.
The Irish co-production is set in the near future, and is centred on the need for single people to find a partner within 45 days to avoid being transformed into animals and released into the wild.
The Lobster is due to be released on October 16
