Saoirse Ronan told the story behind one of Ed Sheeran's botched tattoos on Graham Norton

THE IRISH actress told the story behind the Galway Girl video and how Sheeran came to get THAT tattoo.

The 23-year-old spoke of how she and Sheeran shot Galway Girl and the infamous 'Galway Grill' tattoo Sheeran has.

Ronan appeared on Graham Norton's couch with Debra Messing, Eric McCormack and Rob Beckett to chat about her starring role in Sheeran's music video.

Ronan said she and Sheeran originally met through mutual friends they know from Suffolk in the UK and she jumped at the chance to be in his video.

She said she and Sheeran simply ran around Galway to film the video, accompanied by hundreds of Irish fans.

She clarified that she didn't intentionally tattoo the British singer with the wrong spelling of girl, but rather was told to do so by Sheeran's manager.

So just to clarify, our Saoirse does know how to spell girl!
