Two Irish hotels named in the world's top 50

TWO Irish hotels have been ranked amongst the top 50 in the world.

Ballyfin House in Laois was voted as the second best hotel worldwide by Travel and Leisure’s 2018 World Top 100 Hotels list.

Set at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains, the 5-star Ballyfin House was re-opened in May 2011 after eight years of restoration.

With just 20 bedrooms, it offers those lucky enough to stay there a peace and tranquillity like no other with the most beautiful surroundings imaginable.

Readers of the Travel & Leisure magazine were asked to rank hotels out of 100. They gave Ballyfin House an impressive 98/100.

Ballyfin also ranks first on on the magazine's list of Europe's Top 10 Resort.

Also on the list, coming in at 50th, is Sheen Falls Lodge, Kerry after it scored a rating of 95.47/100.
