Beloved Dublin grandad-of-10 passes away after testing positive for coronavirus

A DUBLIN grandfather-of-10 has sadly passed away just days after testing positive for coronavirus. 

John McGroddy82, from Sheephaven in Swords died this past Sunday at Tara Winthrop Private Clinic, following a short battle with Covid-19, Dublin Live reports. 

A much-loved father and grandfather, John is survived by his wife Nell, their five children and their 10 grandchildren 

John’s death notice on RIP.ie paid tribute to the beloved and much-missed family man. 

It also confirmed that, as per government advice, a small private funeral involving only immediate family will take place, with a memorial service set to be held at a later date. 

The death notice reads:

"Beloved father-in-law of the late Phil; sadly missed by his loving wife Nell, sons Dominic, Jake and Sean, daughters Úna and Kate, son-in-law Eugene, daughters-in-law Lily, Aisling and Heidi, grandchildren Eoghan, Grainne, Aideen, Ellie, Sean, Jake, Katie, Aaron, Aoife and Aodhrai, his siblings Winnie, Michael and Bernadette, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

"Due to government advice regarding public gatherings, a private immediate family only funeral will take place. A memorial service for John will be held at a later date.” 

Those wishing to pay their immediate respects to John can do so via the condolences section of the RIP.ie website. 

One of many families to lose loved ones during these uncertain times, the news of John’s passing comes as the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland reaches 3,235.
