Body found in search for missing student Jastine Valdez after kidnapper shot dead

A BODY has been found in the search for abducted student Jastine Valdez.

According to reports, the remains were found near Pucks Castle Golf Course in south Co. Dublin this afternoon.

No formal identification has yet taken place.

Ms Valdez's purse had been discovered earlier in Rathmichael.

The 24-year-old, from Enniskerry in Co. Wicklow, was last seen being abducted by a man in a Nissan Qashqai SUV near her home at around 6.30pm on Saturday evening.

Dad-of-two Mark Hennessy was shot dead by Gardai last night

Her suspected abductor was shot dead by Gardai on Sunday evening after detectives traced his vehicle to the Cherrywood Business Park in south Dublin.

The deceased has been named as father-of-two Mark Hennessy, 40, from Bray in Co. Wicklow.

It is understood he was armed with a knife when he was shot in the head.

Hennessy, a building contractor originally from Ballybrack, had told his wife he was going out socialising on Saturday evening.

He has no obvious connections to Jastine - who is originally from the Philippines but been living in Ireland for the last three years.

More to follow.
