BREAKING: Manhunt underway after man killed in hit and run in Donegal

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a man lost his life in a hit and run in Letterkenny.

Gardaí have confirmed they are investigating after a car which hit and killed a man in the early hours of this morning failed to remain on the scene or alert emergency services.

A passerby discovered the body of a man in the Windyhall area of Letterkenny, Co Donegal at around 4am this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene and the victim was transferred to Letterkenny University Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators sealed off the area for an examination, where it was identified that the victim was struck by a vehicle which did not remain at the scene.

A forensic examination of the scene is continuing this morning, and the road has been sealed off with local diversions in place for road users.

Gardaí in Letterkenny are appealing for anyone who may have information in relation to the incident to come forward, including any road users who were travelling in the Windyhall area from between 1am to 4am and who may have dash cam footage which could assist the investigation.
