Cameron Reilly murder: Man, 18, arrested in connection with death of Irish teen strangled in field

AN 18-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Cameron Reilly in Co. Louth last month.

Cameron, also 18, was found dead by a man out walking his dog in a field at Shamrock Hill, Dunleer on Saturday May 26.

A post-mortem examination concluded that the teenager had died in “violent circumstances”.

He is believed to have been strangled to death following a petty verbal row with at least one other teen.

The suspect was arrested in Dunleer this morning, Gardaí said.

He has been detained for questioning at Drogheda Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Detectives can hold him for up to 24 hours before he must be either charged or released.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
